First year on his new GasGas was a success!

A full schedule of mechanical engineering courses and full-time work didn’t keep Derik Staley from a series championship on his 2009 Gas Gas EC250 Racing. Last month Derik earned another title in the 250A class of the Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association desert series. AMRA’s 2009 seven-race series combined a mix of hare scrambles, enduros, and GPs over diverse terrain. One open-desert course featured 95% deep sand interrupted only occasionally by sandstone outcroppings. Most other AMRA races inflicted competitors with mile after mile of rocks, both large and small. One GP race included an enduro cross course used for training by Destry Abbott.

Derik was a long-time KTM rider until the purchase of his current machine. Derik’s smooth style and finesse was complemented nicley by the EC250’s quick handling, predictable suspension and high-speed stability.

Derik would like to thank Gas Gas Southwest, Arizona Trail Riders, and his parents for making his race season a success.
